When the Gate Closes, the Risk Does Not
Too often, concerns about someone's safety disappear when they move between yards, employers or organisations. Warning signs are not passed on. Families are left carrying knowledge that should have been shared.
Justice Beyond the Gate is The Katie Trust's commitment to changing that — working alongside The Bridle Path Initiative to strengthen the systems, the conversations and the culture that surround equestrian and rural communities.
Because accountability does not end at the gate.

Katie's Pledge is being developed to strengthen safeguarding, accountability and the way risk is recognised and shared across the equestrian world. It is about making sure concerns do not disappear when someone moves between yards, employers or organisations — and ensuring victims and families are not left carrying the warning alone.
In Katie's name, we take the reins of change.
Danielle's Story
Support Beyond the Gate
The Bridle Path Initiative was founded in memory of Danielle, whose story — like Katie's — reveals the gaps in recognition, response and support that can exist within equestrian and rural communities.
Danielle's family, like Katie's, found themselves asking questions that should have been asked sooner. Their experience drives The Bridle Path Initiative's mission: to provide specialist support, training and advocacy for those affected by domestic abuse in equestrian and rural settings.
Together, Katie's story and Danielle's story are a call to the equestrian world: to look more carefully, to act sooner, and to stay when it is difficult.
In Danielle's memory, we build the support that should have been there.
